About Maribeth Maribeth is a quilter, teacher, lecturer, author and NQA Certified and Master Quilt Judge. She lived and taught for many years in Ponce, Puerto Rico and Medan, Indonesia before moving to Cedarburg, Wisconsin in 1994. She is well-traveled internationally and is not shy admitting she's seriously infatuated with all things “textile.” Working in fiber since the mid 1970s, Maribeth has earned numerous ribbons and awards at regional, state and national quilting competitions. Having won several “Best of Show” awards, her quilts have been exhibited at National Quilting Association, Inc. (NQA) shows in Columbus, OH and Charlotte, NC; juried into 4 of the American Quilter’s Society (AQS) shows: Paducah, KY, Des Moines, IA, Knoxville and Nashville, TN; the International Quilt Festival-Chicago (IQA); Quilt Expo-Madison, WI; museums such as the Oshkosh (WI) Public Museum, Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum, Albuquerque, NM, the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts and internationally in Indonesia. Additional work has been juried into and invited to exhibit at Quilt Expo, the Cedarburg Cultural Center and Quilters' Heritage Celebration, PA. Several of Maribeth's quilted works are published in the following books: AQS Quilt Art Engagement Calendar, Wisconsin Quilts: A History in the Stitches and Warman's Vintage Quilts : Identification and Price Guide. Other quilted pieces can be found in these national magazines: Quilter’s Newsletter Magazine, PieceWork Magazine, Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting Magazine, Quiltmania, Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, Volume 4 and the NQA Quilting Quarterly Magazine. Additionally, Maribeth has appeared in an episode of HGTV’s Simply Quilts, a University of Wisconsin Milwaukee documentary film on quilting titled "Tapestries of Courage" and has an archived interview with The Alliance for American Quilts-Quilter's Save Our Stories. As a National Quilting Association Certified and Master Quilt Judge (NQA-CJ), Maribeth is well-qualified to judge all national quilt shows. She successfully completed and passed a rigorous written exam and oral panel review on diverse aspects of quilt judging and abides by the NQA Code of Ethics. When judging, Maribeth treats every entry with respect. She evaluates objectively and fairly, recognizing the creativity and workmanship in each entry. She strives to provide valuable feedback to entrants commenting constructively and positively. She continues to develop her quilting and teaching skills by regularly attending quilting classes, lectures and shows nation-wide. She feels it's most important to stay current with the latest quilting trends and judging philosophy. While Maribeth's quilting beginnings stem from a traditional background, she enjoys and is excited by contemporary and art quilting endeavors.
